brick country house, mies van der rohe

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the inconsistency in blogging. As of late I've been spending my weekends at the beach, surfing and enjoying the good weather that Sydney has recently decided to grace us with. As a result it means taking a lack of photos and outfit shoots.

I wanted to do one today, but a trip to the hair dresser yesterday ended in tears and tantrums, which means I don't think I'll be doing an outfit post until my hair grows out and I'm happy enough with how it looks.

I decided to share with you a few of my projects for uni. I haven't really posted much on my architecture lately and to do my passion for architecture justice, some dedicated posts to architecture would have been necessary sooner or later.

This definitely is not my finest piece of work. It literally took an hour or so (which in architecture terms is a rushed piece of work). But the interior scheme was just so intricate it was just so much fun to do. This building was designed by architect Mies Van der Rohe. It was actually never built, but the proposed materials used for this piece of work were brick masonry and glass. The aim of the project was to experiment with material representation.

Hope you guys like it.

  1. I have always love architectural models, so can appreciate this very much! I also love Mies and there is a wonderful office complex here in Toronto designed by him, with some of the interiors untouched from the early 60's.

  2. Hey Lisa!

Ahhh I've missed your posts so much! Please post some more soon :)
As for the lake we were at yesterday - it was Narrabeen lake near the shops there. Not sure where you are talking about, but Dee Why is about 2 suburbs away from Narrabeen.
It was such a lovely day though and PERFECT for feeding ducks, hehe!
Hope you had a lovely weekend!

  4. OMG! Yes! That's the place! :)

Haha, we were there around 2pm - what time were you guys there? How funny! I wish we bumped into each other - I wonder if we would've been able to recognise, hehe!

I totally feel ya when it comes to lack of time for photos. It is usually almost dark when I get home everyday and I only really have one day off a week too - so I too want to laze about on my day off, lol.

I try to get some photos at the end of the day just before sunset in my daily outfit. It only really takes 15 minutes to get some shots in and I just spent the night posting them.

If only we could blog full time, eh? :)

    xx

  5. Ah wow!!! An hour!!! That's like super fasttt ahahaha :) Great model! Neatly done and love how you can also take out the ceiling and show the lower floor, etc. :) Great job, Lisss! I hope your hair grows back quicker, I've been down that way too many times I really just started getting used to bad hair daySSS, take it easy, i'm sure it'll grow out before you know it! Perhaps for the moment you could invest on hats and caps (Since its winter, anyway!) :) Anyhow, I can't seem to post anything on my blog, ugh, what's going on with Blogger??? :(

  6. Babe,

Are you okie? Hmmm not happy to hear bout your bad trip to the hair dressers since I super adore your haircut!

Perhaps just try styling it a different way, you might find another superb way to wear your hair.

Hehe and I cannot believe you said the weather here has been good because I have been FREEZING!!!!

I live in my granny housecoat when I am at home complete with thick socks.

I only take outfit shots once a week now, on Saturdays around noontime, sometimes later.

It's not ideal though, I end up looking like Miss Squinty and my lovely imperfections end up magnified like no tomorrow.

For cute stockings, I usually buy them online like eBay, UO, ASOS.

For the plain colored ones, I go for DJ and Myers. But you need to keep going to different ones cos their stock keeps changing which is so annoying.

I want more colored tights too, am looking for red, teal blue and mustard yellow.

Let me know if you ever see the colors kay! ♥♥

  7. That's really cool. I love Architecture models. My brother is studying Architecture, doing his placement year this year.

Great work, even if it did only take an hour.

  9. Wow this is awesome! You have a real talent for architecture. I'm really impressed (and somewhat envious, I'll admit, hehe).

Being on the beach right now sounds lovely. But I am sorry to hear about your haircut. I have definitely been there many times, when the hair stylist cuts off too much hair, or doesn't cut it the right way. I hope it grows out soon! xo
